The way we arrange, and conduct funerals has changed in line with current government guidelines.

During these testing times we would like to take a moment to reassure all that we remain open and serving our local community 24 hours a day. Extra measures have been put in place to help deal with the impact of COVID-19.

We are working in accordance with guidelines issued from the government and The National Society Of Allied And Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) . At present, funerals are still taking place including burials and cremations. Please take the consideration to the following:

  • We kindly ask that you call us to make appointments before visiting our funeral home
  • Funeral arrangements should be conducted by telephone
  • Essential cremation and burial paperwork can be completed online or arrangements for delivery should be made
  • Our limousines are not available as social distancing measures cannot be followed
  • Viewing can only be held in branch by arrangement and only 2 people from the same household at 1 time
  • Recordings or live streaming of the funeral service charges to be covered by DJ Bewley Funeral Directors
  • Donations for charities to be made online via our memorial pages
  • We will be able to help organise a memorial service at a future date

Our local crematorium at Semington have set out the following:

Following the changes announced by the Government on 23rd March 2020, attendance at funeral services will now be restricted to immediate family members only, up to a maximum of 10 mourners per service, until further notice.

We continue to offer webcasting at all funerals - we think it is particularly important to protect those who are vulnerable and the over 70s and we hope that this facility will enable mourners who otherwise would have attended a service to participate remotely.

Our local cemeteries have set out the following:

During the current COVID-19 pandemic, the decision was made at Wiltshire Council’s Gold Command meeting that only ‘immediate family’ will be allowed to attend interments, as per government guidance. Immediate family is currently taken to be parents, partner, siblings and children of the deceased.

We will continue to monitor the situation and adhere to government advice. We will provide updates to colleagues and families when we receive them. This takes immediate effect whether the interment is burial or burial of ashes.

We appreciate the impact these restriction may have on families during the coming weeks. Our aim firmly to provide the help, service and support to you.
