D. J. Bewley are an independent family firm, established in 1970 by Dennis Bewley, who had been an undertaker for 27 years previously. His son, Patrik, joined as junior partner in 1980 and became senior partner in 1997. Patrik has a Diploma in Funeral Directing.

The firm is a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors and the National (SAIF).
